What a difference a day makes

After torrential downpours Friday night, the Summit Point Circuit was under water. Despite super human efforts by the track staff to remove the water, there was no racing on Saturday. So we ventured down to Shenandoah Speedway hoping the rain would hold off for the Legends double feature.

With only some minor sprinkles of rain during practice, we had a beautiful night for oval track racing. Carter turned his fastest lap at Shenandoah during practice with a 17.532. Qualifying just a tick slower with a 17.605 putting him in the 5th starting spot for the first feature. On a late restart, Carter was able to take over the 4th spot for a good finish in a strong field of 13 Legends. The second feature inverted the top 6 finishers from the first feature, putting Carter on the inside of the second row. Carter struggled a bit on the start dropping all the way back to 7th, but he clawed his way back to finish 5th.

We traveled back to Summit Point for the 20-lap Sunday race on the 2.0 mile road course. Sunday brought blue skies and a dry track. With no Saturday qualifying, the grid was set based on class and points. This put Carter 19th on the grid starting 1st in Legends. After the start, Carter quickly worked his way through the field moving up to 4th overall by lap 5. He turned one of his fastest laps this season at Summit Point with a 1:27.609. When the 20 laps were complete, Carter claimed 1st in Legends.
