Labor Day Double Weekend at Summit Point
Went up to Summit Point for the Labor Day double weekend a day early as we had just put in a new motor and we needed some breakin time. While we were there, why not get in some testing. So we experimented with some setup changes that allowed Carter to turn his fastest lap at Summit Point - 1:26.8
Saturday brought rain. Carter Qualified 2nd in Legends and 15th overall. The rain wasn't falling as hard as during qualifying, but the 12-lap race was definitely a wet race. Carter took the green flag and quickly moved into 7th overall and the lead in LC. Carter and Damian Payton swapped spots at least 3 times with some clean (or a clean as Summit Point is in the wet) and exciting racing. Carter held on for the win in Legends and 6th overall. With the rain moving on, Sunday was dry. Carter qualified with a 1:27.640 putting him on the legends poll and 9th overall. 2-laps into the race Carter was struggling into the high speed corners - later we discovered a broken motor mount was the culprit. Despite this, Carter finished 7th overall and 1st in Legends.
Monday's 20-lap race offered the best weather we had seen all weekend. Carter was gridded 9th overall and 1st in Legends. Carter and Bob Conner ran close all race, but Carter was able to slightly widen the gap through the carousel each lap.
