Jacob Poel Tops the Field with a Victory in Big 7 in 1 Show

Rothbury, Michigan (Friday May 24th, 2013): The UMP Modifieds headlined the show at the Winston Speedway on Friday night in Rothbury, Michigan. They were joined by the Street Stocks, Factory Stocks, Four-Cylinder Warriors, Four-Cylinder Mini Stocks, and Young Guns who were all continuing their weekly point’s battles. The MORA Mini Outlaws were also in attendance for their annual visit.
12-year old Tony Taylor would pick up the win in the Young Guns. Kristina Johnson finished second, Morgan Smith, Trent Musk, and Billy Frey made up the rest of the top five. Taylor also won the heat.

The Four-Cylinder warriors would see Duane Sobers go to victory lane as the feature winner. Tim Stafford finished runner up, Gary Larabee, Ray Geeting, and Ryan Lemmen rounded out the top five. Larabee, and Chris Gagnon were the heat winners.

Rich Lieb was winner of the Four-Cylinder mini stock feature. He finished ahead of defending track champion Dave Avink who was second, defending UMP DIRTcar eastern states & 2011 track champion Paul Namey, Randy Larabee, and Carl Mccann completed the top five. Lieb and Shawn Reed Jr. took the heats.

Defending track champion Josh Sternberg would make the trip to the winners circle after having bested the field in the Factory Stocks main event. Rob Sternberg finished second; Dennis Bringedahl, Josh Grabe, and Nate Trick were the top five. Tony Sherrell and Bringedahl won the heat races.

The Street Stocks feature was won by Derek Poland who finished ahead of Bill Brandt Jr. who would have to settle for second. Sadie Klein, Chuck Smith, and Mike Wilbern capped off the top five. Defending track champion Dan Dykman and Smith the winners of the heats.

The Mora Mini Outlaws would see Doug Roush pick up the win. Floyd Roush, Neal Fisher, Luke Strong, and Ryan Reckow made up the rest of the top five. Their heat was also won by Doug Roush.

Finally, Jacob Poel would end up being the winner in the UMP Modifieds after picking up another big win. Four time track champion John McCaul took second, Jeff Erickson Jr., Kevin Cavanaugh, and Greg Smith rounded out the top five. Poel and Smith won the heats.

Next week Friday May 31st will see the first appearance by the Flint, Michigan based Allstar Performance Michigan Dirt Cup Modified tour presented by Lane Automotive for their second event of the year. The program will also feature Street Stocks, Factory Stocks, Warriors, Young Guns, and the Mini Stocks who will be competing for a special $300 to win. Every Friday night, the Pit Gates Open at 4:00p.m. Grandstand Gates Open at 6:00p.m. Practice Starts at 6:30p.m., and Racing Begins at 7:30p.m.
