Dan Dykman & Joe Bares Earn Big Victories as Part of Winston’s Huge 8 in 1 Show

Rothbury, Michigan (Friday July 19th, 2013): The Lane Automotive Michigan Traditional Sprints which featured the best wingless sprint car drivers in the great lakes region and brought them to the fast 3/8ths (0.375) mile high banked dirt oval of Winston Speedway, located in Rothbury, Michigan. The Sprints headlined the show along with the Kenny Blondeel Memorial for Street Stocks. The Program also featured action from; UMP DIRTcar Late Models, UMP DIRTcar Modifieds, Factory Stocks, Four-Cylinder Warriors, Four-Cylinder Mini Stocks, and Young Guns.

In the Young Guns division it was Billy Frey picking up the big win to his name. Trent Musk was the second place finisher. Sean Sobers, Lydia Huisken, and Tony Taylor rounded out the top five. The lone heat race win went to Huisken.

The Four-Cyliner Warriors squared off in a feature event that was won by Christian Wynbelt. He finished ahead of Mike Goodwin who was second. Chris Gagnon, Tim Stafford, and Harley Farkle were the top five. The heats were taken by Gagnon, and Goodwin.

Two time defending UMP DIRTcar East Region and 2011 track champion Paul Namey earned the victory in the Four-Cylinder Mini Stocks. Rich Lieb had to settle for second. Shawn Reed, Randy Larabee, and Chad Tomczak finished the top five. Namey also won the lone heat race.

The Factory Stocks saw 2011 track champion Rob Sternberg capture the checkered flag. Defending track champion Josh Sternberg was the runner up. Josh Grabe, Bethany May, and Nate Trick were the top five. Tony Sherrell and Rob Sternberg picked up the heat race victories.

The Street Stocks held their feature for the Kenny Blondeel Memorial, which saw two time defending UMP DIRTcar East Region and defending track champion Dan Dykman cross the finish line as the big winner. Derek Poland picked up the second place spot. Chuck Smith, Mark Farber, and Sadie Klein made up the rest of the top five finishers. Klein was the winner of the lone heat race.

The UMP DIRTcar Modifieds went head to head in a big feature event. 2011 UMP DIRTcar Michigan State Champion Jacob Poel scored the big win after the drop of the checkered flag. Defending UMP DIRTcar Michigan State Champion David Mielke finished second. Two time defending track champion Andy Sprague, Paul Johnson, and Kevn Cavanaugh completed the top five. Sprague and Poel won the heats.

The UMP DIRTcar Late Models held their A-Main feature which was taken by Matt Pickard. Phil Ausra took second. Jacob Poel, Shawn Reed, and Brian Juusola completed the top five finishing positions. Poel won the lone preliminary heat race.

Finally, the Lane Automotive Michigan Traditional Sprints took to a fierce shootout, where when it was all said and done Joe Bares scored the big victory. Steve Irwin had to settle for the runner up spot. Mike Austrauskus, Nate Bostrom, and John Watson capped off the top five. Joe Irwin and Steve Irwin were the victors of the heat races.

Next week Friday July 26th the Winston Speedway will hold a special $300 to win invitational for the Four-Cylinder Mini Stocks. The UMP DIRTcar Super Late Models, Street Stocks, Factory Stocks, Four-Cylinder Warriors, and Young Guns will be in action as well. Every Friday night, the Pit Gates Open at 4:00p.m. Grandstand Gates Open at 5:00p.m. Practice Starts at 6:30p.m., and Racing Begins at 7:30p.m.
