J.R. Hotovy Wins Allstar Performance Michigan Dirt Cup Late Models Tour Presented by Lane Automotive 2013 Season Opener At Winston

Rothbury, Michigan (Friday June 14th, 2013): After having the original date back on May 14th postponed by Mother Nature. Winston Speedway welcomed in the traveling cars & stars of the Allstar Performance Michigan Dirt Cup Late Model Tour presented by Lane Automotive. The tour took to the fast 3/8ths (0.375) of a mile high banked dirt oval in Rothbury, Michigan for their 2013 season opener. Factory Stocks, Four-Cylinder Mini Stocks, Four-Cylinder Warriors, Young Guns, and a Street Stock special presented by JRC Chassis made up the rest of the program on Friday night.

For the third week in a row 12-year old Tony Taylor was the driver in victory lane as the winner of the Young Guns Feature. He finished ahead of Billy Frey who was second, Trent Musk was third, Kristina Johnson, and Morgan Smith rounded out the top five. Musk won the heat race.

The Four-Cylinder Mini Stocks saw the 2-time and defending UMP DIRTcar racing series Eastern States and 2011 track champion Paul Namey pick up the win. Brian Carson was the runner up. Rich Lieb, Carl McCann, and defending track champion Dave Avink finished off the top five. Lieb was the heat winner.

Gary Larabee won the Four-Cylinder Warrior feature event. He got the win over Chris Gagnon, Gary Gagnon, Christian Wynbelt, and 2011 track champion Chad Tomczak who were the top five. The heats were won by Casey Vogel, Tim Stafford, and Gary Gagnon.

The Factory Stocks divisions saw Rob Sternberg take the trip to the winners circle after the checkered flag. Nate Trick would have to settle for second. Mike Fekken, Dennis Bringedahl, and Beth May made up the rest of the top five finishers. Both Rob Sternberg and Josh Sternberg won the heat races.

The Street Stocks would square off in their main event. When it was all said and done, Sadie Klein ended up getting the big win. Steve Fairbanks finished as the runner up. Derek Poland, Ben Hidy, and Mitch Smith capped off the top five. Fairbanks and Poland won the heats.

Finally, the Allstar Performance Michigan Dirt Cup Late Model Tour presented by Lane Automotive held their feature event with a stellar 20-car field on hand. When the checkered flag dropped the first car to cross the finish line was that of J.R. Hotovy. Defending Michigan Dirt Cup & UMP DIRTcar racing series north region champion Brandon Thirlby finished second. Dona Marcoullier, Bret Darling, and five time track champion Rich Neiser completed the top five. Hotovy, Ryan Vanderveen, and Marcoullier picked up the heat victories. Phil Ausra won the B-Main.

Next week Friday June 21st Winston Speedway will feature a Warrior Special presented by Ginman Tire. The UMP Super Late Models, UMP Modifieds, Street Stocks, Factory Stocks, Four-Cylinder Mini Stocks, and Young Guns will also be on hand to take part in the program. Every Friday night, the Pit Gates Open at 4:00p.m. Grandstand Gates Open at 6:00p.m. Practice Starts at 6:30p.m., and Racing Begins at 7:30p.m.
