Brian Ruhlman Earns $1000 Pay Day with Huge Win
Rothbury, Michigan (Friday July 5th, 2013): Hot off the heels of the Fourth of July holiday, Winston Speedway opened the doors to its fans in Rothbury, Michigan on Friday night. The show was headlined by a spectacular Fireworks show that took place for all of the fans in the stands. The racing program featured the high powered UMP DIRTcar Super Late Models squaring off for $1000 to win. Street Stocks, Factory Stocks, Four-Cylinder Mini Stocks, Four-Cylinder Warriors, and Young Guns completed the program and made up the rest of the nights special “Firecracker 125”with 125 laps of feature racing.
The Young Guns held their main event feature and saw Bill Frey pick up the pick win. Second place went to Tony Taylor. Todd Ryan, Trent Musk, and Morgan Smith rounded out the top five. The lone heat race was won by Ryan.
The Four-Cylinder Mini Stocks would send Rich Lieb to victory lane as their feature winner. Brian Carson had to settle for the runner up position. Chad Tomczak, Randy Larabee, and 2006 track champion Carl McCann finished off the top five. The preliminary heat races went to Shawn Reed Jr., and Carson.
Gary Gagnon was also a feature winner in the A-main for the Four-Cylinder Warriors. He finished over Tim Stafford who was second. Ray Geeting, Melissa Young, and Kurtis Bennett were the top five. Nick Curtis, Geeting, and Gary Larabee won the heat races.
The Factory Stocks also went head to head in their main event. Dennis Bringedahl was able to bring home the win. Jarid Bisson had to settle for second. 2010 track champion Spike Grega, Josh Grabe, and Robert Raugh capped off the top five. The heat race victories went to Bission, and Grabe.
The Street Stocks division feature ended up being won by Derek Poland who was the first to cross the finish line. Ralph Sternberg took second. Sadie Klein, Kendall Marlink, and Mark Farber made up the top five finishers. Sternberg and Poland were the winners of the heats.
Finally the high-powered UMP DIRTcar Late Models took part in their showdown for a special $1000 to win prize. When it was all said and done, Brian Ruhlman was the driver in victory lane as managed to get the huge victory. Five time track champion Rich Neiser finished as the runner up. Herb Reich, Jim Fairbanks, and Rob Taylor completed the top five. Neiser and Ruhlman won the heats.
Next week on Friday July 12th will be Praxair Welding Supply Night at the Winston Speedway. Headlining the show will by a Four-Cylinder Warrior special worth $300 to win. The UMP DIRTcar modifieds will also be on hand, along with the Street Stocks, Factory Stocks, Four-Cylinder Mini Stocks, and Young Guns which will complete the program. Every Friday night, the Pit Gates Open at 4:00p.m. Grandstand Gates Open at 5:00p.m. Practice Starts at 6:30p.m., and Racing Begins at 7:30p.m.
